Employee development

Active diversity and respectful co-existence and mutuality

BNP Paribas’ most important asset is its own employees. BNP Paribas takes responsibility for this strong team. This responsibility is expressed in promoting diversity and inclusion, creating attractive workplaces and adhering to a responsible employment policy, as well as supporting dynamic career development.

Our strength lies in the diversity of our staff

Whether in terms of age, gender, sexual orientation, social or ethnic origin, religion or disability: our teams are diverse and develop the best solutions for our customers from the interaction of different experiences, skills and perspectives.

What unites us as people, despite all our differences, is mutual respect. This is the basis for a trusting, appreciative and transparent co-existence.

BNP Paribas has been a member of the Charta der Vielfalt, the largest industry association in Germany for the promotion of diversity in business and society, since 2017. We have also been on the board of this employer initiative since 2021. In addition, we are one of the first signatories to the “Joint Declaration Against Sexism and Sexual Harassment” charter initiated by the Federal Government.

Living Inclusion at BNP Paribas

Generation management forms part of our culture

There are currently four different generations working at BNP Paribas Germany. Their working environment needs are quite different and depend on the specific phase of life. We focus on flexibility measures just as much as on preventative health measures, lifelong learning, and support services for relatives in need of care.

All units of the BNP Paribas Group in Germany bear the Hertie Foundation’s workandfamily certificate for our family- and life-phase-conscious human resources policy. We are signatories to the charter on the compatibility of work and care.

Diversity on all levels

A society that forgoes the expertise of entire sections of the population will always fall short of its potential. That is why the entire BNP Paribas Group committed itself to the #JamaisSansElles initiative back in 2020.

This means that the top 175 managers at BNP Paribas Germany will no longer take part in internal or external events if there are no women among more than three panelists. Furthermore, by 2025 the proportion of women in senior management should increase to over 40 percent and in the Executive Committee to more than 30 percent. Diversity and equality are also incorporated in our communications, among other things through the use of inclusive language.
