Comprehensive cooperation with the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research
Strong partners for biodiversity and climate education: at the start of 2025, BNP Paribas Germany and the BNP Paribas Foundation launched a multifaceted collaboration with the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research for the coming years.
This partnership brings together scientific expertise with social engagement, highlighting our long-term commitment to protecting biodiversity.
Educational programme for Messel Pit exhibition
From December 5, 2025, the Senckenberg Natural History Museum in Frankfurt will present a special exhibition highlighting the Messel Pit (“Grube Messel”) in the Rhine-Main region to mark the “Messel anniversary”. Thirty years ago, this unique fossil site was awarded UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
In conjunction with the exhibition (titled “Ganz schön warm hier: Leben und Sterben in Messel”), the BNP Paribas Foundation is supporting an interactive educational and outreach programme on the Messel ecosystem, designed especially to engage school students with the topic of climate change and biodiversity. Open topic stations, digital formats, and school projects deepen understanding of ecological interconnections.
The programme will kick off with several initiatives for children and families during the summer holidays at the “Aha?! Science Lab”, the interactive area of the Senckenberg Museum, as well as within the framework of the “Children’s University” at Goethe University Frankfurt in September.
Knowledge transfer for biodiversity
Another goal of the partnership is to strengthen the exchange between science and business. As part of the collaboration, BNP Paribas will have the opportunity to involve experts from the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research in internal and external events as thought leaders on the topic of biodiversity.
In addition, employees can access concentrated knowledge on specie diversity and ecosystems through free visits to the Senckenberg Natural History Museum in Frankfurt in 2025, thanks to a corporate membership.
Commitment to biological diversity
The preservation of biodiversity is a central pillar of our corporate responsibility. In this context, the collaboration with Senckenberg, one of the leading research institutions on biological diversity, contributes directly to the BNP Paribas Group’s global sustainability strategy.
