Katharina Nickel appointed new Chief Sustainability Officer for BNP Paribas Germany
BNP Paribas has announced that Katharina Nickel will be appointed as the new Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) of BNP Paribas Germany, effective January 1, 2026. She will succeed Eva Meyer, who transitioned to the management team at BNP Paribas Wealth Management Germany in the second half of 2025 as part of the acquisition of HSBC’s private banking business.

Katharina Nickel has been with BNP Paribas since 2019 and possesses extensive experience in sustainability work. Most recently, she served as the Head of Sustainable Business Investment & Protection Services and Institutional Clients for the German market. Her career began in the sales sector of asset management, where she worked for companies such as BNP Paribas, HSBC, and BlackRock, and most recently closely accompanied institutional clients and financial institutions.
In her new role, Katharina Nickel will report locally to Lutz Diederichs, CEO of BNP Paribas Germany, and internationally to Anne Pointet, Director of Company Engagement BNP Paribas. Additionally, she will become a member of the BNP Paribas Executive Committee Germany and the Group Management Board of BNP Paribas in Germany.
